Just Us Girls #33 color challenge & Stamp Simply #139 sketch challenge...

I created this card for my father-in-law, who will turn 92 in a few days!  I decided to combine two challenges into one card.  Sometimes it's difficult to do a "guy" card, especially when you're a crafter, like me, who loves ribbons and "embellies".  I think I was successful with this card, though.  Anyway...he always appreciates my handcrafted cards no matter how they turn out!

The JUGS challenge #33 is to use red, white and blue...with the option of adding kraft.  Well, kraft is always a good choice for a guy's card anyway, so I used that for my main panel then added the other colors as accents.  I used a Diamond & Star Impressabilities on the panel of kraft, although it may be difficult to see in my photos.

The Stamp Simply #139 challenge is a sketch challenge by Jenn Buck.  I stayed fairly close to her original sketch, but of course added my own touches.  It's fun working from a sketch created by someone else.  It really gives me a "head start" on my card.

You can click on the links above to take you to the challenge blogs, to see what everyone has created!

Here's a closeup of the embossing on the kraft panel.

  1. So glad to see you back again participating in our JUGs challenge this week, Susie! Love your card! I'm so glad your FIL appreciates handmade cards! My MIL doesn't always seem to appreciate all my hard work! I should just buy one...maybe she'd be happier! But I love your card and I'm so glad you came back! Hope to see you next week and thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!
