Dynamic Duos #75 - Spiders!

Eeek!  We've got such a fun challenge for you this week at Dynamic Duos #75.  Basic Black & Tangerine Tango...with the a Dessert Option: Halloween Theme.  Dessert is so difficult to resist, isn't it???

Believe it or not, I did NO stamping on this card.  That does not happen often.

That textured card front was created with a sunshine impression plate.  Somehow, those concentric circles remind me of raindrops hitting puddles on pavement.  You know.  Halloween...dark...rain...puddles.  Sounds kinda strange, huh?
So.  I used a couple of dies to create this envelope and the window on the  front.  I adhered acetate behind the window, then placed the spider patterned paper behind that.  That "poison" label is from the same paper pad.  Well...then I had to use my spider dies again.  Oh yes, and a dab of black enamel accents on their little bodies...again.

Yes. Yes.  I've switched gears...back to Halloween mode.  I think this is my last one.  Maybe.

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C #206

ETA: My friend Tracey reminded me that I can enter this card in another challenge.  Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge October 1: Spooky Scene.  I don't know why I didn't think of it, since I entered a card just a couple of days ago!  Here is the graphic:

Great inspiration from both challenges, right?   I got kind of cutesy with my card.  But I sure had fun with it!

Yes, more ghostly greetings!  I cut 3 little photo frames from patterned paper, then filled them with fun Halloween creatures.  I gave my bat some yellow gem eyes...the vellum ghost was lucky enough to get the wiggle eyes...and the spider has a bit of stardust clear glitter pen on his tiny eyes.
Are you making Halloween cards this year?  If so, do you make them every year?  This is my first year making more than 1 or 2.  It's a lot of fun!

DD #73 - Spooktacular!

Hi!  For Dynamic Duos Challenge #73, I've used our colors for another Halloween card.  These dramatic colors could be used for so many occasions or styles of card making.  See what I mean.

I combined the challenge colors with black and created a dark, spooky (well, not too spooky) card.  As I said last week, it's fun to create cards for an occasion that I usually don't get into much.

I created the sky by sponging cajun craze and island indigo inks onto some whisper white cardstock.  The tree die cut was placed over that, then the rolling hill.  I drew 3 little bats onto the sky - not sure how bat-like they look!
The sentiment and the bat beside it were stamped last.  If you look closely (click on the 1st photo) you'll see that I added 2 dabs of black enamel accents for his eyes.  Spooky, right?

Ghostly Greetings! - Curtain Call Challenge

I'm sharing another Halloween card today.  Yes.  I know.  You're SO surprised.  Ha!
Once I started creating cards for this occasion, the ideas just kept rolling.  So, I rolled with it. :)

Anyway, lets get to the challenge.  I'm playing along with the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Spooky Scene.  The inspiration graphic is so fun.  See?

I created a window card for my spooky scene.

If you look closely - or click on one of the closeup photos - you'll see that my "wall paper" patterned paper includes skulls.  Nice detail, huh?  My ghosts were stamped with versamark onto vellum, then embossed in white.  I couldn't resist adding those googly eyes.  I added a bat using some black EP.

My house siding was created by using a woodgrain impression plate, then I scored every 1/2" to resemble boards.  Two Spellbinder dies were used to create the window.

Well, as my card says...Ghostly Greetings.

BOO - Ravens, spiders and a bit of sparkle

Hi! Just a short post to share a Halloween card that I made today.  No challenges, just a fun card.  Not even any stamping involved.  What?

This was a lot of fun and so easy to create!  I added some black Stickles to the crystals on that chandelier...you can see it if you click on the closeup photos, I think.  After die cutting the spider, I added a dollop of black enamel accents to make him a little creepier - as if spiders aren't creepy enough, huh?
The letters for my sentiment are also die cut.  That's about it.  Fun stuff!

Dynamic Duos #71 - BEWARE

Ha!  Did I get your attention with that post title?

I'm here with my design team card for Dynamic Duos #71.  This week we have such a versatile color duo.  You can in any direction with this combo.  Seriously.  Oh, and we have a Dessert Option...wet embossing.

I usually don't get much into making Halloween cards.  But, I'm seeing so many cute dies and stamps lately AND I've realized these how much fun it can be to create something for this occasion.  So, here goes!

This card really was a lot of fun to create.  I started with a kraft base and panel, then tore strips of black card stock to place behind my spider web.  Tearing is one of the first techniques I learned, all of those years ago, when I first began paper crafting.  Kinda fun to use it again!
The spider web and the spiders were made using some Memory Box dies I bought recently at an Expo.  It doesn't show in these photos, but I added a few swipes from my Wink of Stella brush to the "spokes" of the web.  It glimmers IRL.  You'll have to trust me on that one. :)
Those little spiders needed a little something extra, so I added black embossing to their little bodies.  My sentiment is also embossed.

Beware - 2 Challenges

I don't usually make Halloween cards.  It's not a holiday that I really get into.  But, I thought I'd make a few cards to send to family.  Arrgghhh.  I think I should have paid attention to my instincts...and skipped Halloween.
Well, the card is finished, so I'll post it.
I'm playing along in 2 challenges with today's card.

Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C109) - The challenge is to create something for an upcoming holiday and incorporate heat embossing.

My card ~

I used Stampin' Up! colors...Basic Gray, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy to create a tri-fold card.  I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 11" x 4 1/4".  I scored it at 1 1/2" and 6 1/2" for my folds.  The finished card measures 5" x 4 1/4".  I stamped the haunted house in gray ink onto the gray cs, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  After cutting out the image I added some color to the windows with a yellow glaze pen.  I drew in a bat with a black marker.  Then added some stars to the sky with a stardust glitter pen.
On the narrow flap of the card, I cut fringe into several pieces of gray ribbon and layered those over the "fence" punched cs.  Oh, and added a fun little spiderweb sticker.
Well, I'm not sure I'll be making more Halloween cards.  I'll have to give it some thought.
