Birthday Butterflies

Just a quick post to share a card that I'll be sending to a soon-to-be 16 year old in Wisconsin.
Her name is Nicia and she suffers from a genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome.  I found out about this sweet girl through one of my crafting friends on Facebook.  Here's a bit of the info posted about Nicia and the birthday card event for her 16th birthday.  The following was written by her Mom.

This is a card shower by mail - not an actual party that you need to attend. Our daughter Nicia suffers from a genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome. We spend a lot of time in the hospital as there are a multitude of medical issues that go along with her disorder. Heart, lung, brain, bleeding problems, degenerative hearing loss, and much more. Nicia is turning 16 on January 26th 2015. She has been feeling down lately, feeling alone, going through so much with her syndrome. I want to surprise her with a LOT of birthday cards on her Birthday. I am starting this early so I can try to spread the word and get as many people as possible to just send her a simple birthday card.

I thought this was a wonderful event.  Just think of the impact on Nicia...receiving thousands of birthday cards from around the world.  Yes!  Nicia's Mom says that  over 1300 cards have arrived already.  :)

I CASED a card by Laura Bassen, seen HERE on the Simon Says Stamp Blog.  I loved the overlapped stenciling!

And here's my card for Nicia.

Oh, yeah.  This card makes me smile.  I used distress inks over various areas of a Heidi Swapp stencil.  Then I die cut the word Happy, cutting a few more of them from plain white card stock...and glued them together.  You know I love dimension!

Anyway, I hope Nicia likes this card as much as I do. :)
Thanks for taking a look today!
